To end a more than successful season, Le Puy Foot will play in an emblematic football stadium of French football with closed doors, creating a memory that should last. If they spoiled the party in similar circumstances in Nancy in 2023 (1-2 in front of 19,000 people), it would take an unlikely scenario this time for the locals not to celebrate their promotion to Ligue 2 at the final whistle.

Because with a three-point lead and a tied goal difference with Fleury (0-0 and then 2-2), the Sochaux team has a comfortable cushion of +7 in goal difference. In other words, Fleury would need a 4-0 victory against Rouen (in a real final for the 3rd place) combined with a 3-0 defeat for Sochaux. It means that the 18,500 people who have snatched up tickets for the match do not believe it for a second and will be there to celebrate the promotion, three years after the relegation and the fear of the club’s disappearance.

Le Puy Foot is expected to continue its tour of festivities, a week after seeing Dijon secure its title of champion at Massot (1-2), which maintains a poor series. Because since they missed the opportunity to climb onto the podium at home against Aubagne (1-2, on April 10), the promoted team has not won a match (three defeats, two draws). And although the performances are not bad, it is clear that there is no longer that extra spark that allowed this team to believe in the playoff.
