Since this morning at 12:01 a.m., TRACES has been available on the platforms. With this first long-format album, Nîmois Delon abandons the simple club format for melodic and melancholic house nourished by The Cure, his long nights in the studio and twenty years of electronic culture.
An intimate and melodic album, crafted over months in his Nîmes studio at Carreau de Lanes. In Nîmes, Grégory Delon has been part of the local electronic landscape for a long time, since his high school years in Dhuoda where he already played guitar. Before TRACES, there were the first turntables purchased in 1999, an EP released in Germany in 2004 and years of commitment within the Animé association, of which he was a volunteer then president. With the association, electronic music has taken over the Jardins de la Fontaine, the arenas and the Place du Chapter.
Mundillo
Responsible for communications at the opening of Paloma, producer, DJ, organizer of Apéros Techno, Costières Sonores, then Pic Sonore, the 49-year-old from Nîmois looks at music at 360 degrees. His album marks a turning point. Far from the simple club-cut maxi, the album seeks long listening. Deep house, Balearic warmth, organic grooves. Artists from the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Canada and Latin America lend their voices to the album. “I spent almost four months in the studio”confides the producer. In this room installed at his home in Nîmes, he sometimes worked fourteen hours straight. “There were evenings at 4 a.m., I was in my studio because I had found an idea. In four notes, you know it’s going to make a song. HAS”
The common thread? a sweet melancholy that the artist cultivates on all the titles. A melancholy tinged with positivity, inherited from The Cure, his favorite group (tattooed on his arm next to the Pixies) that the Nîmois will go to see at the end of July during their three concerts at the arenas, as part of the Nîmes Festival. TRACES also contains a cover in English of a title by Gérard Blanc, There must be a woman It’s his favorite title.
Then he takes the stage again. On May 20, during the feria, Delon will be at the Bodega des Costières in Nîmes during the private evening of the Mundillo du BTP, in front of 1,200 guests. Heriberto Cruz, present on the album, will join him. A new piece, Mundillo, created for the Nîmes feria, will be played live there. Other dates will follow, including an Apéro Techno at Moulin de Langlade on July 10 and Family Picnic in Montpellier on July 31. TRACES, it’s not just a record, it’s the new chapter of a 100% Nîmois journey, from flyers created on Photoshop to dance floors, from heritage places to platforms. Happy listening!
