If you don’t come to the cinema, the cinema will come to you… Installed since Tuesday in the parking lot of the Ranguin media library, CinéMo is back, after a year traveling the roads of France, here where it was inaugurated last year.
Initiated by the Art Explora foundation, with the support of the Canal + foundation, the CinéMo operates on the same model as its predecessor, the MuMo (mobile museum), created in 2013: a traveling cinema – withc a 72-seat room installed in the heart of an 18 mx 7 m truck – who comes to your doorstep and welcomes you free of charge and without reservation. “The privileged sites are the priority districts of the city and the rural areas of less than 3,000 inhabitants, specifies Mhamed, driver/manager/projectionist, on the roads for many weeks.

“Where access to culture and cinema is less obvious, with a catalog of arthouse films, which varies depending on the site,” slips Lola, one of the two mediators present – with Emma – for this Cannes meeting. And, besides, they are lucky, the people of Cannes…
Viewings, workshops, debates…
Since Tuesday and the broadcast of Kiki the little witch and until Saturday, they are entitled to a diving into the world of Hayao Miyazakiwith ten creations from the absolute master of Japanese animation. Interspersed sessions Workshops [écriture de scénario, prises de vues, doublages, musiques de films…] and exchanges, alwaysassure Lola. It’s not fair: we broadcast a film and leave them there. HAS”
Moments to debate, particularly with schoolchildren. Because, on Tuesday, after welcoming middle school students around the short film, the CinéMo broadcast Persépolis to students of 1re cinema specialty of the Lycée Bristol de Cannes. Do not “an important moment” for their teacher, Romain Gimenes: “Already, seeing a film in a theater is always essential to discovering the work, and this original concept adds appeal and brings interesting cultural mediation to the neighborhood. But being able to exchange arguments, debate around a hotly topical film [il évoque le passage du régime du shah à la république islamique, dans le Téhéran des années 1970]it’s precious.” And that’s also the role of 7e art.
