Malagasy culture celebrated in Val-de-Reuil

The Maison de la jeunesse et des associations de Val-de-Reuil (Eure) hosted a ceremony on Saturday May 2 organized by the FI.MPI.MA association, dédiée à la promotion de Malagasy language and culture.

The event marked the awarding of diplomas to new rhetoricians, as well as the presentation of new promotions in traditional dress.

Around sixty graduates

Around sixty graduates from the five sections of northern France came for this day combining cultural transmission, family exchanges and promotion of Malagasy traditions.

Jacqueline Ralanto, president of the local antenna Rouen branchreturned to the history of the association:

FI.MPI.MA (or Association of Malagasy Rhetors) was created in 1963 in Madagascar, when 14 people woke up to the colonization there by the French language. They were afraid that their language would disappear.

« Un beau mélange de cultures »

The organization works in particular to preserve oratory and the subtleties of the Malagasy languageformerly enriched with proverbs and cultural references common to the different ethnic groups of the island.

“There were 18 ethnic groups but everyone understood each other. A mix between the first to come from Indonesia, followed by Africans and then Arabs, all produced a beautiful mix of cultures to promote. »

Present in France since 2010, the association offers courses and training through several local sections. In Val-de-Reuil, three speakers are currently teaching around a dozen students.

We currently have 12 students from the city which has made its reputation on the mixture of cultures. This is why for the first time we welcome 60 graduates who come from the 5 local sections of the northern part.

For this ceremony, the president of FI.MPI.MA France, Sedera Razafindrazak, as well as former president Dera Ramandraivonona, presented the diplomas to the participants after two years of training.

A language to preserve

Jacqueline Ralanto finally underlines the importance of preserving this language despite its developments: “It is a great pleasure for me as for everyone. We have so much to share. There is a real evolution of the language but we must preserve it. New words that did not exist among us, coming from French, were integrated. »
