Reserve your evening on Tuesday, May 12th! Following the success of last year’s exceptional evening, the cinema in Tarascon-sur-Ariège is inviting all film lovers to Cannes for the opening ceremony of the 79th International Film Festival. The event will be hosted by Eye Haïdara and broadcast live from the Palais des festivals starting at 7 pm. At 8 pm, an aperitif will be offered by the association l’Entre’Act, before the world premiere screening of the opening film of the 2026 festival, “The Electric Venus”, a dramatic comedy by Pierre Salvadori, starring Anaïs Demoustier, Pio Marmaï, and Gilles Lellouche. This unique blend of humor, melancholy, and romanticism will kick off the international film festival in style, with the director expressing his enthusiasm: “Cannes celebrates everything I love about cinema – the staging, boldness, freedom, and authors. It discovers them, supports them, celebrates them. In its own way, my film carries all the belief and love I have for my craft. I am so proud and happy that it is opening the festival!”

At the Tarascon Cultural Center on May 12th, at the usual rates.
