The winners of the 86th edition of the Peabody Awards have been announced, showcasing a wide range of stories, from late-night satire to urgent reporting from conflict zones.

In total, 34 winners were selected from over 1,000 submissions, following deliberations by a jury of industry professionals and academics, highlighting the breadth and competitiveness of these honors.

Established in 1940, the Peabody Awards recognize stories that prioritize public impact and cultural significance in television, radio, podcasts, and digital media, often looking beyond audiences to acknowledge works with a tangible impact on society.

This year’s winners reflect this diversity. In the entertainment category, programs like Adolescence, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Pluribus are among the distinguished works.

The awards also focused on urgent global issues, with projects such as Fault Lines: Kids Under Fire, The Disappearance of Dr. Abu Safiya, and The Rise and Fall of Terrorgram being celebrated for their coverage of Gaza and online extremist networks, as well as their investigations into immigration policies and the operations of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

In the documentary category, one of the winners is the Oscar-nominated Mr. Nobody Against Putin. Based on footage filmed clandestinely by teacher Pavel Talankin, exposing how the Putin administration seeks to indoctrinate schoolchildren in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, this impactful documentary was praised throughout the European documentary circuit for its political insights.

Other winners include No Other Land, which previously won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2025, and The Alabama Solution, which received a special Goldsmith mention for a documentary film in 2026.

These awards underscore the global reach and accolades already achieved by this year’s winners.

“The winners of the 86th edition of the Peabody Awards reflect Peabody’s mission to honor stories with the potential to evolve culture, whether examining the destructive tactics of ICE, addressing terminal illness through a deeply intimate lens, or resisting attempts to silence freedom of expression,” said Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody. “We are eager to recognize and celebrate these winners.”

The winners of the 86th edition of the Peabody Awards will receive their prizes at a ceremony held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on May 31.
