The Patriots confirmed that Vrabel would miss the Saturday portion of the NFL Draft to seek counseling. He thanked team owners and players for their support, confirming that his family is his priority and he needs to be with them during the weekend.
Originally scheduled to address the media after the first night of the draft, the conference was rescheduled with short notice. Vrabel will not comment further on the situation out of respect for his family. He is entering his second year as New England’s head coach.
The controversy began when photos of Vrabel with Russini at a hotel in Sedona, Arizona, were published on April 7. Additional photos from a New York City bar in 2020 and a casino in 2024 were released on Thursday. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the issue is a team matter and not under the league’s personal conduct policy. The NFL is not investigating for potential discipline.
