The Professional Football League (LFP) has announced the postponement of the UNFP Trophies ceremony. Initially scheduled for Sunday, May 10, the gala evening will now take place on Monday, May 11 at the Palais Brongniart, located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. This date change aims to ensure the event is held in optimal conditions for all participants.
This rescheduling is due to RC Strasbourg’s journey in the Conference League. Due to their return semi-final match against Rayo Vallecano scheduled for Thursday, May 7 at the Meinau stadium, the Alsacians could not play their league match the following Saturday. To respect sporting fairness, the LFP has decided to move the entire 33rd day of Ligue 1 to Sunday, May 10.
This new scheduling clashed directly with the award ceremony. By moving the gala by twenty-four hours, the authorities allow players nominated in Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and Arkema Premier League to be free from their Sunday sporting obligations to attend the reception.
However, the schedule remains particularly tight for the team led by Gary O’Neil. After their European match on Thursday, the Strasbourg players will have to play their league match against Angers on Sunday, before heading to the capital on Monday for the annual French football awards ceremony.
