At a G7 virtual meeting on Wednesday, the American president expressed satisfaction with the impact of his military and economic policies worldwide.
Donald Trump openly expressed his satisfaction during a video conference meeting convened by Emmanuel Macron from the Élysée Palace. Following eleven days of conflict in Iran and the Middle East, the global economic consequences and energy situation were on the agenda.
At the beginning, the French president asked participants to provide a precise update on the ongoing strikes. “It is important that we coordinate to ensure that freedom of navigation is clearly restored in all states as quickly as possible,” explained the head of state.
Emmanuel Macron expressed interest in studying the possibility of “increasing” global oil production in partnership with third countries “to avoid any form of oil and gas export restrictions, which could destabilize markets and increase volatility.”
These proposals delighted his American counterpart. “Well, I agree,” rejoiced Donald Trump. The United States “have a tremendous impact. An incredible impact, actually, on the world,” he enthused.
According to the Élysée Palace, this was “the first discussion on this issue among G7 members. Economic coordination is a key issue for an effective and useful response to the situation.” France currently holds the presidency of the G7 industrialized countries this year.
