On December 28th, Brigitte Bardot passed away at the age of 91. Despite her death, the French icon continues to live on in the hearts of her many fans. Evidence of this can be seen in the number of people who come to pay their respects at her grave in the marine cemetery of Saint-Tropez. “Rain or shine, there are always people asking where BB’s grave is! From early morning, there is a continuous flow of people: French but also many foreigners,” the cemetery guards told Le Parisien.

It’s impossible to talk about Brigitte Bardot without mentioning Saint-Tropez. The star spent her final days at La Madrague, her famous property in Saint-Tropez. She also owned La Garrigue, which was transformed into an animal sanctuary. And that’s not all. The former rival of Jane Birkin also owned a magnificent Art Deco apartment of over 400 square meters, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. An apartment that is currently being sold by the Kretz.

A portrait of Brigitte Bardot painted by Andy Warhol will be auctioned

If the sale of this apartment is expected to bring in several million euros, the same goes for this portrait of Brigitte Bardot. On Friday, April 10th, in the show C à vous, journalist Amandine Bégot made revelations about a unique piece of art. It is a portrait of Brigitte Bardot, created by Andy Warhol. The artwork is currently on display at Sotheby’s Paris, for a week. It was commissioned by the billionaire Gunter Sachs, known for being BB’s third husband.

“There are seven others like this one, in different colors. The businessman asked Andy Warhol for them after his breakup with the star and he had never shown them to the public until now,” explains Amandine Bégot. In a report aired on the show, we hear Thomas Bompard, co-director of the Modern and Contemporary Department at Sotheby’s France, saying: “Gunter Sachs was so obsessed with Brigitte that in 1974, six years after their divorce, he went to see his friend Andy Warhol and commissioned eight portraits of his ex-wife, based on an image by Richard Avedon, the great photographer.”

Brigitte Bardot’s painting estimated to be worth millions of dollars

“This is the most beautiful of the three he kept because this Brigitte has red lips and out of the eight portraits, only two have red lips. For me, that changes everything,” adds the expert. This portrait of Brigitte Bardot will then be exhibited in London from April 19th to 21st. Then, it will be put up for auction in New York in May. The estimated value is staggering. In fact, it is estimated to be worth between 14 and 18 million dollars! A hefty sum that the future buyer will have to pay at a minimum. But the bids could soar.
