Russian bombings killed two people in Ukraine, including an 8-year-old child and a sailor in the Black Sea, the Ukrainian authorities announced on Friday June 19. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, located in east-central Ukraine, three districts suffered Russian artillery and drone strikes, regional official Oleksandr Ganja said on Telegram. These bombings particularly affected the city of Pavlograd, killing “an eight year old girl” and injuring a 49-year-old woman, according to this official.
In the Kharkiv region, in the northeast of the country, aerial bombs hit the city of Kharkiv, as well as three other municipalities, according to Ukrainian rescue services. Ten people were injured, including four children. Russian drones also hit two civilian ships in the Black Sea on Thursday evening, killing one and injuring five. Three sailors from a second ship, flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, were also slightly injured, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiï Kouleba said on Telegram on Friday.
The Odessa region and its port infrastructure have been regularly the target of Russian strikes since the start of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine launched in February 2022. This invasion has become the worst armed conflict in Europe since the Second World War, leaving hundreds of thousands dead in both camps.
