Does RC Vannes have its place in the Top 14?
He already had it last year. Today, if Vannes climbs into the Top 14, it is thanks to experience and the move to the Top 14 two years ago allowed it to grow. It is a club which has always been structured, which has always been able to evolve. It is a team which tends to become a stronghold of French rugby. It already is, in Pro D2. The goal from now on is to perpetuate this and stay in the Top 14.
Do you see them settling in despite this Pro D2 format which complicates preparation?
I think they have the potential and they have all the cards to keep the club in the Top 14. I am convinced of it. Like La Rochelle, a club which has approximately the same dynamics and the same evolution with a few years of difference.
Has the view of other clubs, particularly historic clubs, on Vannes changed?
The evolution is that since they moved from Fédérale 1 a few years ago, we felt that there was a president (Olivier Cloarec) and a manager (Jean-Noël Spitzer) who did everything to make the club evolve in the best possible way, with a center of performance. They have incredible structures. Above all, they managed to gain confidence, to have a truly magnificent image: the enthusiasm that there can be on the Vannes side at each meeting, the evolution of the stadium… Everything came together really well. And there is a vision for the future. Today, it makes the difference. It’s such a well structured club, so much better structured than emblematic clubs which are over 100 years old and which have a history in the Top 14. They have taken the right step.
Are the Top 14 clubs trembling a little more with the rise of the RCV?
Yes, it will be different because they already have this experience. Above all, they will have more targeted recruitment, they will perform quickly, they already know. This will be an advantage for them.
Do you see them being able to look for players who bring something extra?
I think they have already made their market and that we will have some surprises in the offseason with the announcement of certain players.
