The lion is not dead yet tonight. Thomas Tuchel was particularly acerbic in a press conference after England’s narrow victory against New Zealand on Saturday (1-0). Despite the large reshuffle of the team for this meeting, the content of the match is far from having satisfied the German coach.

Jude Bellingham, seul épargné

“ I’m not entirely satisfied. I preferred the second half to the first. We played better by respecting our positions, with a more sustained pace and a more incisive game without the ball. In the first half, we were in a bad position. Our game was too messy. A little too freestyle…assured the former Parisian technician.  In the first half, we tried a lot of crosses, long shots, which is not our usual style of play. We played a lot of length, with long passes, which wasn’t part of training for the last four days… This slowed down our game and made counter-pressing difficult, because we weren’t in the positions we wanted when it came time to attack… then detailed the one who will try to bring the Three Lions towards a second world title after that of 1966.

Only Jude Bellinghamcame into play in the second half, found thanks to his eyes during his speech:  He is determined and combative, these are essential qualities. We can clearly see that he is coming back from injury full of energy and happy to be back on the field. His injury occurred at a crucial time in the season. But we see now that he is at the top of his form. He comes back fresh, motivated and in full possession of his means. »
