An agreement with the player does not make a transfer. In Munich, we know this better than anyone. Just a few weeks ago, Bayern thought they had Anthony Gordon – before seeing Barcelona sweep away for a handful of millions. History, perhaps, is repeating itself.
This time, the name that shakes Bavaria is called Nathaniel Brown. Left back for Eintracht Frankfurt, 22 years old, German international: the profile has it all. And according to an exclusive from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern and the player have already found common ground. Better: a contract running until 2031 would be locked.
Brown does not hide his desire. After exchanges considered very positive with Vincent Kompany, the person concerned would like to join the German champion without delay. No one saw it coming so quickly, and yet everything has gotten out of hand in recent days.
Why such excitement? The answer is in one word: versatility. Capable of playing on the left, on the right, or even in a more offensive role on the wing, Brown ticks a box that has become valuable at Säbener Straße – that of the all-rounder, ideal for a tight squad and a salary budget held with an iron fist. Kompany, it is said, has done so. a central argument.
The obstacle remains. The real one. Because if the understanding with the player seems established, that with Frankfurt is slipping. Markus Krösche, the sporting director of the Eagles, would demand up to 60 million euros. Bayern, faithful to its legendary prudence, would offer around fifty. Ten million difference, therefore – or rather ten million doubt.
And this is where the memory of Gordon cools the enthusiasm. The scenario is known: a player agrees, managers who focus on the price, and a file which ends up collapsing. Max Eberl would, however, have a little more latitude than during the English episode, the management showing itself convinced by the qualities of the young German. The good understanding between the staffs of the two clubs could also oil the cogs.
This track is not the result of chance either. With Raphael Guerreiro at the end of his contract and Alphonso Davies who is just returning from a long injury, the Bavarian left lane is crying out for fresh arms. Behind the scenes, Manchester United were also following the case: suffice to say that Plettenberg’s exit caused some teeth to grind on the Old Trafford side.
So, transfer completed? Not so fast. As long as the two clubs have not agreed on the check, caution remains in order. The player wants to come, Munich wants him too – basically all that’s missing is an eight-figure detail. Here is a file which promises to liven up the Bavarian summer.
