A Fijian international in Vannes’ sights?

In Vannes, the leaders are working behind the scenes to complete the scrum rotation. At the post, Michael Ruru, in January, extended his contract until 2028, while Mikheil Alania is linked to RCV until 2027. Vannes thought he could count on Arthur Coville but after having signed up in the fall with his training club, he decided to withdraw to continue the adventure in Provence Rugby. On the administrative level, this file is not yet completely finished but Breton decision-makers did not wait to start looking for his replacement.

At the start of the month, they tried to sign Dacquois Sylvère Réteau but he ultimately chose to stay with his long-time club. The RCV also contacted Montpellier to discuss the possible release of Alexis Bernadet (24 years old) but the Hérault club opposed it. From then on, Vannes began to look at the market for non-Jiff players. Several profiles are being scrutinized and they recently came into contact with Fijian international Simi Kuruvoli. He has been playing for the Fijian Drua for five seasons and he could, at 27, embark on a new project. If the contacts lead to something concrete, it would be a very nice move carried out by the Morbihan leaders, Kuruvoli now being a player with some experience, particularly on the international scene (25 caps).

Already a recruit at the hinge

As a reminder, the RCV has already been strengthened at the hinge level in preparation for the next exercise. As announced in our columns many weeks ago, Pierre Popelin will return to Brittany during the next off-season. After three seasons at Castres, the opener will once again put on the Vannes tunic. Popelin (30 years old) shone within the club between 2018 and 2021, before leaving for La Rochelle then the CO. It remains to be seen whether this guy will have Simi Kuruvoli as a teammate. The case is continuing.
