Actively participate in the implementation of programs.
In the era of globalization, the youth of the army in general, and that of the border guards in particular, constitute not only the essential force for the protection of national territorial sovereignty and border security, but also an important bridge to promote international cooperation in military and defense matters.
Through programs, lectures, meetings and exchange of information between members of the youth union, friendship is strengthened, new values are created in training and the development of thinking about border protection becomes the foundation of sustainable development.
Commander Mai Viet Nhan, political assistant of the political department of the Border Guard Command, said: “The youth of the Border Guard Command always play a key role, participating in the unit’s working groups to conduct negotiations, exchanges and discussions with the border protection forces of neighboring countries on issues related to the implementation of the Border Regulation Treaty, agreements on border defense works, border management and protection activities, the situation with regard to security and public order, disaster prevention and control, and the settlement of issues relating to both sides of the border within the jurisdiction stipulated by law and agreements between the two parties.
Building on the pioneering and creative role of young people, members of the Youth Union have organized hundreds of meetings along all border lines with border protection forces of neighboring countries to discuss, inform and exchange information relating to border management and protection and the national system of border posts, to the maintenance of security and order in border areas and at border posts; and to learn and exchange experiences.
Members of the Youth Union at border guard posts coordinate their actions with border protection posts and stations of the opposing country in order to carry out patrols and controls at border crossing points, prevent illegal entry and exit, combat smuggling, illegal trade and transportation of goods prohibited drugs and narcotics, as well as human trafficking across the border; and to educate and mobilize populations on both sides of the border to strictly respect the law, agreements, treaties and conventions.
According to Commander Mai Viet Nhan, the young border guards showed themselves to be active, proactive, creative and diversified their actions of friendly exchanges and diplomacy in terms of border defense, thus contributing significantly to the resolution of problems border and territorial borders and maintaining security and stability of national defense along the country’s borders. Playing a role as ambassadors in this diplomacy, they have actively and proactively proposed many solutions to promote relations and cooperation in border defense with neighboring countries, considering this as a key factor in strengthening solidarity and friendship with other nations.

Actively advise and lead participation in the implementation of programs such as the Border Defense Friendship Exchanges between Vietnam, China, Laos and Cambodia; the “Border Exchanges to Strengthen Friendship”; and political exchanges at all levels, in an appropriate and effective manner. A strong point is the exchange between young officers and young border guards from neighboring countries, with many significant activities such as: helping children within the program “Child Sponsorship by Border Guard Posts”. » with students from neighboring countries, the distribution of gifts to families benefiting from preferential treatment, to poor households and students in difficulty, the construction of arrangements and systems of flower gardens and ornamental plants, the strengthening of school infrastructure in the areas border crossings and participation in sports exchanges…
Strengthen solidarity and friendship with young officers.
It is difficult to fully quantify the contribution of young border guards to strengthening international solidarity. However, the projects, initiatives and actions carried out at the borders of the homeland embody the friendship, solidarity and close ties between the young people of each country, thus becoming beautiful symbols of international cooperation between the young people of the border guards and friendly nations. All work for the common good and the protection of national sovereignty, territorial integrity and border security.
Commander Mai Viet Nhan believes that one of the biggest challenges today is reconciling the preservation of traditional military values and the adoption of new ideas. Young soldiers are both the heirs of heroic traditions and the pioneers of innovation; During their missions, they draw inspiration from the progress made by other countries. This challenge also arises from the cultural diversity inherent in exchanges. By participating in exchange programs, young soldiers must learn to perceive, understand and respect cultural differences, while seeking common ground to strengthen international solidarity. This requires not only knowledge, but also effective communication and cooperation.
In this new context, in order to consolidate, strengthen and develop the action of the border guard forces in terms of external relations with the border protection forces of neighboring countries, thus contributing to the building of a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border region, Commander Mai Viet Nhan proposed several solutions, namely: further strengthening the leadership and guidance of Party committees and commanders at all levels in matters of external relations and international integration; actively raise awareness and inform members of youth unions about opportunities, challenges, objectives, directions and tasks in order to unify understanding and strengthen their capacity to participate effectively in action in external relations.
Promote the proactive and positive role of members of youth unions in organizing and implementing specific tasks in border defense and foreign affairs; ensuring the completion of tasks, maintaining territorial sovereignty and strengthen solidarity and friendship with young officers and cadres of border protection forces of neighboring countries, and promptly advise and effectively resolve unexpected situations.
It is important to ensure that young people have the necessary funding, resources and time to participate in diplomatic activities, and to create favorable conditions for their development. It is essential to select, train and build a team of young executives specializing in foreign affairs, possessing the required qualities, qualifications and skills – both politically engaged and professionally competent – to meet the demands of the new era.
“For each member and organization of the Youth Union, it is necessary to innovate in working methods in order to adapt to the practical realities along the border lines, taking into account the characteristics of each region and the customs and traditions of each locality along the border lines, in ensuring compliance with principles and procedures, being rigorous and thorough, but also meeting the requirements of innovation, creativity and large-scale influence to encourage Youth Union members to participate,” said Commander Mai Viet Nhan.
