A 21-time American international, David Ainu’u is not the type to count the days until June 11 and the opening of the 2026 World Cup co-organized in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The Stade Toulouse player, launched into the home stretch with the final stages of the Top 14 in sight, is not necessarily paying attention to this event which will however animate a good part of the planet.
Other priorities. While the 2026 World Cup is about to kick off (June 11 – July 19), David Ainu’u isn’t really paying attention. However, this will be played in particular at home, on American soil. “Frankly, I’m not going to lie, I don’t care”, launched the pillar of Stade Toulousain this Friday at a press conference, 48 hours before the move of the “red and black” to the lawn of La Rochelle (9:05 p.m.).

It must be believed that the only June event that interests the Stade Toulousain pillar is the Top 14 semi-finals, scheduled for June 19 and 20 in Marseille. “It’s going to be cool but I haven’t seen a lot of things, haven’t read a lot of things, about the World Cup in the United States. If I can watch a match, I will, but I’m not at all focused on that,” recalls the man who was born in American Samoa and crossed the Atlantic in 2017 to join the Pink City.

Rather in American football, David Ainu’u does not have much chance of being in front of United States – Australia on June 19. Perhaps he will observe the clash against Paraguay, six days earlier, or against Turkey, on June 26 on the eve of the Top 14 final. It’s been almost a century since thatTeam USAÂ seeks to do better than a semi-final lost in 1930 during the first World Cup.
