A record delegation from the Arc club of Nîmes engaged in the second round of the World Cup, from May 5 to 10 in China.

From May 5 to 10, Shanghai will host the second stage of the Outdoor Archery World Cup. In the Chinese metropolis, the competition promises to be particularly dense, with the presence of the world elite, particularly Asian, traditionally dominant in the discipline. Within the French team, a delegation attracted attention: five archers from Nîmes were selected, a record for the Arc Club of Nîmes.

An unprecedented Nîmes presence in the French team

The Gard club has never been so represented at this level of competition. This selection illustrates both the local dynamics and the quality of Nîmes training, which over the years has become a recognized breeding ground for French archery.

In men’s recurve archery, the Olympic vice-champion trio in Paris is back on the shooting range. Baptiste Addis and Jean-Charles Valladont – the latter returning to the French team after the birth of his daughter – are accompanied by Thomas Chirault, licensed at Clermont-Ferrand. An experienced framework, tested for long-term challenges.

Between experience and discovery of the very high level

Alongside them, three other archers from Nîmes continue their training on the international circuit. Alexis Renaudineau is competing in his second competition at this level. After a first experience in Mexico, marked by the discovery of high senior level, he approaches this stage with more benchmarks.

For the women, Mila Fremery Delestan will line up in recurve. She distinguished herself from her first appearance on the circuit in April, in Mexico, by achieving a promising sixth place. In Shanghai, the objective will be to confirm and gain experience.

In compound arch, Anaëlle Florent will try to bounce back after a more complicated start during the Mexican round. It will seek to fully express its potential in the face of tough competition.

Support from executives to guide the next generation

If Baptiste Addis and Jean-Charles Valladont are now regulars in major international competitions, their Gard teammates are still in the discovery phase. In this demanding context, the experience of the two executives could play a key role, both technically and mentally.
