The arrival at the Karen Demirtchian Complex in Yerevan of the guests from the summit of the European Political Community, the first organized in the Caucasus, was broadcast live this Monday, May 4th by News.am, a media outlet that, like most Armenian news sites, reported the comments and preliminary statements of the key officials present.
This format brings together countries from the continent to the Caucasus, excluding Russia and Belarus. Its first edition was held in Prague in October 2022, a few months after the start of the war against Ukraine.
“This event will focus on strengthening cooperation in areas such as energy, transportation, digital technologies, and logistics infrastructure. Special attention will be given to current global issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East,” according to News.am.
“A positive signal”
Armenia had never hosted a diplomatic summit of this magnitude before. “The fact that this summit is taking place in Yerevan shows the importance of the Caucasus, especially during this period of war in Iran,” said Kaja Kallas, representative of the European Union’s diplomacy, as cited by Armenpress.
