This year, the jazz world celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of three jazz pillars born in 1926: Tony Bennett, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis.

In Montreal, Marcus Miller will pay tribute to his mentor at the concert “We Want Miles” at Maison Symphonique. Trumpeter Ron Di Lauro will perform the album “Kind of Blue” and Rémi Cormier will revive the soundtrack of “Elevator to the Gallows” during a cine-concert.

Isaiah Collier will give a full interpretation of Coltrane’s masterpiece “A Love Supreme.” The legacy of the saxophonist will also be celebrated with the Christine Jensen Sextet’s performance of “Modes of Coltrane.”

John Pizzarelli will bring back Tony Bennett’s vocal elegance.

The festival will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the group UZEB with the premiere of the documentary “UZEB in Fusion” and shows by two members of the iconic Canadian group: Alain Caron and Michel Cusson.

But of course, the Montreal International Jazz Festival will also focus on the present and future, with highly anticipated performances by the mysterious duo Angine de Poitrine, Patrick Watson on his “Uh Oh” tour, blues-rock virtuosos Larkin Poe, and the London-based group KOKOROKO.

And this is just a small part of the lineup that includes over 350 concerts, featuring artists like Diana Krall, Lionel Ritchie, Earth Wind and Fire, Melody Gardot, Pink Martini, Willow, Max Richter, Ibrahim Maalouf, and many more.
