The memorandum of understanding concluded between Washington and Tehran, which must be signed on Friday in Switzerland, is beginning to produce its effects. Iranian oil tankers crossed the blockade zone set up by the United States in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday June 17, reports the TankerTrackers maritime monitoring suite.

“At least two supertankers from the National Iranian Tanker Company, named Dione et Hero2crossed the perimeter of the US Navy blockade carrying between them a total of 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil.indicated TankerTrackers on X, later reporting the passage of a third Iranian tanker. “These are Iran’s first crude oil exports in two months”notes the site.

The Iranian government clarified on Tuesday that the American blockade of Iranian ports, in place for approximately two months, had been lifted, before the signing of an agreement with the United States scheduled for Friday. A fifth of the world’s oil normally passes through this strategic maritime passage, blocked by Tehran after the first Israeli-American strikes against Iran at the end of February.
