“We understand that the situation is now worse for the Iranians”regrets Me Chirinne Ardakani, president of the Iran Justice association, invited Monday June 15 on franceinfo, a few hours after the announcement of an agreement between Iran and the United States to end the war in the Middle East. The one who is also the lawyer of Narges Mohammadi, winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, denounces the lack of consideration of civilian populations in the agreement.
“Thousands of Iranians unfortunately continue to be under the yoke of the regime”denounces Chirinne Ardakani. “This is a fairly clear demonstration that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as tyrannical as it may be, has won”she believes. The lawyer points at “replenishment of the funds of the Revolutionary Guards” with this agreement, “which will undoubtedly be used in phases of repression”. The war in the Middle East is “a general fiasco”she concludes.
The United States and Iran finally reached an agreement on Sunday June 14, after more than three months of war in the Middle East. The Americans obtained the lifting of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the end of Israeli intervention in Lebanon. The agreement will be officially signed on June 19 in Geneva. The conditions for opening the strait, however, remain very unclear at the moment, since Tehran wants to charge a right of passage to ships crossing it while Washington wants to return to the situation before the war where passage was free.
