Saint-Malo. A first defense class in Brittany will open in September – HIT WEST

A defense class next school year in Saint-Malo. Students in the paramedical and health sectors will be able to follow this new program. An agreement was signed at the beginning of June between the Maupertuis high school and the army medical center. “For our students, what is interesting is to discover the professions of doctor, lab technician, nurse and care assistant. These are really the specificities found at the army medical center that attract our students.

 

A 1st class defense in Brittany

 

There, we are targeting a group of 15 to 20 volunteers who would be interested in discovering professions within the armies, but also in a civic journey with the army medical center. This will be presented to several students who will work one hour per week, on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the time of commitment, on the different activities that we will offer as part of the program.explains Marie Domingos, teacher in the ST2S sector (health and social sciences and technologies) and project referent.

A Geopolitical Context

 

If this training is going to be launched in the Saint-Malo establishment, it is also because the students are interested in career opportunities within the army.

“Our students have been preparing for the nursing competition for several years. Today, there is no longer a competition, however it is maintained within the army. So, it is an opportunity for us to provide support to our students who would like to take this competition. There is this political and geopolitical context which can explain this interest. our students have had this appetite for several years. It doesn’t just come from this context either.

 

 

For several years now, we have been supporting our students in discovering professions within the armed forces, because there is already a desire from the start to join the army.”continues Marie Domingos.

The citizen and memorial journey…

 

With this partnership between the Malouin high school and the army medical center, the objective is above all to inform students about the opportunities that exist and not necessarily to recruit: “the idea is really to discover the professions, the different possible paths within the armies, since there are several ways to integrate the army. But we also and above all aim for the citizen and memorial path, since that is part of the program.

We must ensure defense education, and in this context we will have activities around memory, with history and geography teachers.. The idea is twofold: the orientation course, the future course, but also the citizen course.”concludes Marie Domingos.

Still within the Maupertuis high school in Saint-Malo, a defense class is in place for industrial baccalaureates (STI2D) with the air force this time.
