Mali: the army announces the neutralization of around fifty terrorists in the regions of Gao and Kayes

The Malian armed forces (FAMa) announced the neutralization of around fifty terrorists in the regions of Gao (north) and Kayes (west).

“The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs national opinion that, as part of the offensive reconnaissance missions underway throughout the national territory, the air vectors of the FAMa successfully carried out, this Saturday June 6, 2026, a series of targeted strikes in several localities “, indicated a press release from the army general staff consulted by Anadolu.

“The first strike targeted a refuge of armed terrorist groups, where around twenty terrorists as well as several motorcycles had been identified, not far from the locality of Doro, southwest of Gao,” added the press release, specifying that in the same area, a truck “loaded with logistical equipment belonging to armed terrorist groups” and its contents, as well as “several motorcycles “spotted” next to a tent “were completely destroyed”.

In the Kayes region, the army press release indicated that a “careful reconnaissance operation” and strikes carried out in the Sandaré area made it possible to identify “an important terrorist withdrawal base” and to neutralize around thirty terrorists and destroy several motorcycles.

Since the coordinated and simultaneous attacks of April 25 against several localities in the country which cost the lives of Army Corps General, Sadio Camara Minister of Defense and veterans and members of his family, the Malian army has been increasing offensives every day against armed terrorist groups in the different regions of the country.
