Furthermore, the PSC welcomed the continued continental efforts aimed at making the “African Humanitarian Agency (AHA)” operational, highlighting the historic role and the momentum of solidarity demonstrated by the countries hosting refugees, despite the growing challenges on the plans. development and security, while calling for rigorous compliance with fundamental legal instruments and relevant AU conventions.
At the end of the work, the Council called for “the establishment of sustainable solutions to support humanitarian action in Africa”, while reinforcing the principle of equitable sharing of burdens and responsibilities. He also insisted on addressing the root causes of displacement and refugee situations through conflict prevention, mediation and peacebuilding mechanisms, while continuing to present periodic reports to monitor developments in the humanitarian situation and displacement trends. Member States have also proposed a set of recommendations and strategic approaches in this area, which should appear in the official communiqué to be published by the Council on this vital issue, in order to guide future continental humanitarian policies.
