Pierre D., a 63-year-old retiree, is suspected of having killed his 26-year-old neighbor and her ex-partner. If the gendarmes believe that the retiree could have secretly fallen in love with his young neighbor and acted out of jealousy, another version tells him.
The Mouflons path climbs between gardens, well-maintained hedges and peaceful houses. In the distance, the Belledonne massif closes the horizon. In this small hamlet of Crets en Belledonne in Isère, neighbors know each other, help each other, talk to each other over the fences. On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:30 p.m., it was this postcard setting that was the scene of a bloodbath.
A resident of this small mountain path, Pierre D., 63, says that after hearing gunshots, he went to his neighbor’s home and discovered two inanimate bodies. When the gendarmes and firefighters arrived on site, in the large white house located at the end of the hill, they came across the bodies of Clotilde Sappeï, 26 years old, and her former companion, Adli Belhadj, 30 years old. They were each killed by a gunshot to the head. Quickly, a first observation emerges: the weapon has disappeared. The theory of a suicide followed by homicide does not hold up. There is definitely someone else. So begins a seven-month investigation, in a hamlet where everyone thought they knew everyone.
