While negotiations to achieve peace in the Middle East remain laborious between Washington and Tehran, Donald Trump has chosen to put pressure on Iran by once again breaking the truce in progress since April 8. Several American media outlets reported on Wednesday evening (during the night from Wednesday to Thursday in Paris) American attacks against the Islamic Republic.

The US military shot down four Iranian drones and carried out strikes on a ground base in southern Iran. “These actions were measured, only defensive and carried out with the intention of maintaining the ceasefire,” however affirmed an American official on condition of anonymity. This nevertheless constitutes the second American operation of this type this week.

Iran reports three large explosions

The four downed drones represented a threat, according to US officials cited by CNN and the New York Times. They added that the ground strikes, near the town of Bandar Abbas, were aimed at preventing the takeoff of a fifth drone.

Iranian media previously reported that three loud explosions were heard near Bandar Abbas around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.
