Israel announced Tuesday evening that it had targeted this official in a strike and announced his death in the morning. Hamas confirmed his death but without recognizing that the deceased had actually taken the head of the al-Qassam Brigades.
The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military branch of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, confirmed Wednesday evening the death of their leader, Mohammed Odeh, killed the day before in an Israeli strike.
“The great martyr Commander Mohammed Ali Odeh [alias] Abou Amr, chief of staff of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades [a été tué mardi] evening […] during a cowardly assassination operation which resulted in his martyrdom, as well as that of his wife and children, and left a number [d'autres] civilian deaths and injuries »indicates a press release from the Brigades.
