Rejecting any blocking scenario, the Republican assured that this strategic strait will remain “open to everyone”: “These are international waters. We will monitor it but no one will control it.”
Hamas’s military wing confirms its leader’s death in Israeli strike
The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, military branch of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, confirmed Wednesday evening the death of their leader, Mohammed Odeh, killed the day before in an Israeli strike. “The great martyr Commander Mohammed Ali Odeh [alias] Abou Amr, chief of staff of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades [a été tué mardi] evening […] during a cowardly assassination operation which resulted in his martyrdom, as well as that of his wife and children, and left a number [d’autres] civilian deaths and injuries,” indicates a press release from the Brigades.
Israel announced Tuesday evening that it had targeted this official in a strike and announced his death in the morning. Hamas confirmed his death but without recognizing that the deceased had actually succeeded as head of the al-Qassam Brigades to Ezzedine al-Haddad (killed in mid-May in an Israeli strike) as the Israeli authorities claimed.

“No one will control the Strait of Hormuz. It will remain open to all,” said Donald Trump from Washington, also assuring that the United States “will release the ships blocked in the strait at the appropriate time.” The American president has, at the same time, ruled out any prospect of easing sanctions against Iran. “Without an agreement, we will finish off Iran,” threatened the President of the United States, who called for a “perfect agreement”.
Israeli military declares entire area south of Zahrani River a ‘combat zone’
The IDF renewed its call for evacuation to residents of southern Lebanon, asking them to head north of the Zahrani River. The Israeli army says it wants to “act with extreme force against Hezbollah”.

The White House calls a draft agreement exposed by Iranian state television a “total fabrication”
Iranian state television reported a draft framework agreement with the United States including Washington’s commitment to lifting its naval blockade, which the White House described as a “total invention”. According to the television, this draft of a possible memorandum of understanding also provides for the restoration of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and the withdrawal of American forces from the region. “This information from the Iranian state media is not true and the draft framework agreement that they ‘published’ is a total fabrication. No one should believe a word that the Iranian state media puts out,” the American executive replied via one of his official accounts on X, Rapid Response 47.
Israel calls for evacuation of city of Tire and surrounding areas in southern Lebanon
The Israeli army has called for the evacuation of the city of Tire and its surroundings in southern Lebanon, ahead of planned attacks against pro-Iranian Hezbollah, despite the ongoing truce.

Oil loses more than 5% on optimism around a deal
Oil prices plunged on Wednesday, amid optimism about the prospect of an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war. Around 12:35 p.m. GMT (2:35 p.m. in Paris), the price of a barrel of Brent from the North Sea, for delivery in July, lost 4.99% to $94.61, shortly after having dropped more than 5%. Its American equivalent, a barrel of West Texas Intermediate, for delivery the same month, fell by 5.94% to 88.31 dollars, after having fallen by more than 6%.

In a joint statement, the Israeli army and the Shin Bet, the Israeli internal security agency, confirmed that Mohammed Odeh, who “held the position of head of the military wing of Hamas after the elimination of Ezzedine al-Haddad” (May 15 in a strike Israeli), had been killed during a “strike in the north of the Gaza Strip”.
Mohammed Odeh long headed the intelligence services of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. His appointment as head of the Brigades to succeed al-Haddad was never announced or confirmed by the Palestinian Islamist movement.
31 dead in Israeli strikes in Lebanon
The Israeli army carried out new strikes in Lebanon yesterday, killing 31 people, according to the Lebanese government. 31 people, including at least four children and three women, were killed in these attacks and 40 others were injured, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. Fourteen people were killed in Burj al-Shamali, near Tyre, the ministry said.
At the same time, Israel announced it would extend its land operations beyond the “yellow line” that it established in the south of the country. “We are intensifying our action in Lebanon,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeated on Tuesday, despite a ceasefire in force since April 17.
Ceasefire threatened after US strikes
Iran yesterday accused the United States of violating the ceasefire after nighttime American strikes in the south of the country. These strikes are a blow to apparent progress in negotiations to put a lasting end to the war in the Middle East.
“The American terrorist army, continuing its illegal and unjustified actions since the ceasefire (…), has committed over the past 48 hours a flagrant violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region,” declared the Ministry of Affairs foreign, without specifying the nature of the facts. And to warn: “The Islamic Republic will not leave any malicious act unanswered.”
