In a joint statement, the Israeli army and the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency, confirmed that Mohammed Odeh, who “held the position of head of Hamas’ military wing after the elimination of Ezzedine al-Haddad” (May 15 in an Israeli strike), was killed during a “Strikes in the north of the Gaza Strip”.

Mohammed Odeh long headed the intelligence services of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. His appointment as head of the Brigades to succeed al-Haddad was never announced or confirmed by the Palestinian Islamist movement. Asked by AFP, Hamas did not react to the Israeli announcement at the start of the morning.

The minister added that Israel was determined to end Hamas’ rule in the Gaza Strip.
“The voluntary migration plan from Gaza will also be implemented, everything will be done at the right time and in the right way”also said Israel Katz, alluding to a project of forced emigration of residents of the Gaza Strip to third countries carried by far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich and partially taken up by President Donald Trump before being abandoned.
In February, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk denounced “Israeli actions that appear aimed at bringing about permanent demographic change in Gaza”. The attack of October 7, 2023 left 1,221 dead on the Israeli side, the majority of them civilians, according to an AFP count established from official Israeli data.
