The presence of a large Pakistani delegation in China on Monday is undoubtedly not unrelated to the fact that the war in Iran is hurting Beijing.

US attacks on Venezuela and Iran, combined with threats to Cuba, indirectly affect China and its energy supplies.

Iran and Venezuela are crucial oil suppliers to China, which also has a close relationship with Cuba.

According to Stéphan Bureau, TVA Nouvelles contributor in international politics, “it’s a war to suffocate them in a certain way, if not in a certain way.”

According to the latter, the United States is adopting the same commercial strategy against China as what England did against Germany in the 10th century. At that time, Germany was the “new kid on the block” trying to take its place and develop trade routes.

The British then put obstacles in the way of the Germans by sabotaging access to energy sources.

“It’s the same logic that operates here. So the Chinese are not fooled, but they also need a return to normal. If the world economy runs out of steam, it is their export market that will suffer. And that’s very bad news in China,” proclaims Stéphan Bureau.

Even though the country is officially communist, the global capitalist system benefits China, whose economy is growing and where the population is increasingly lifting itself out of poverty.

“As long as it works, as long as it runs, we accept certain compromises. For many, these are not compromises, it is a good system. But for all those who would like to complain or say that we might have a little more freedom, you say: yes, but no, because we are going to give more purchasing power, for example, and that counts,” underlines the TVA Nouvelles contributor.
