Tahar Hattabi, 55, has been appearing since Wednesday before the Ardennes criminal court for violence with a weapon leading to mutilation or permanent disability.
The facts date back to a dispute linked to purchases and resales of vehicles. According to the prosecution, the man shot Frédéric Signore with a shotgun, while the latter was sitting at the wheel of his car, parked in front of the Love Auto garage, at 120 boulevard Lucien Pierquin, in Warcq. The victim, hit in the thigh, was dropped off at the Charleville-Méziéres hospital center by a passenger before undergoing several operations to extract numerous metal projectiles.
If Tahar Hattabi admits to having fired, he claims to have acted in reaction to a threat: according to him, the two men present were armed (one of them would have been hooded) and were preparing to burn down his garage.
His lawyer, Maître Saïd Harir, should therefore support the theory of a climate of threat and action in a state of self-defense, despite the fact that these allegations could only be substantiated by his ex-partner, present on site. Neither the other testimonies, nor the investigations carried out as part of the flagrant investigation or the investigation, were able to shed light on this version of the alleged accused. Note that only the testimonies of the accused and his ex-partner will not be able to enlighten the court, in the absence of a civil party or a lawyer representing the victim at the hearing.
The accused faces fifteen years of criminal imprisonment. The verdict is expected this Thursday.
