Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met his Uzbek counterpart Chavkat Mirzioev on Friday in the Kazakh city of Turkistan, on the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Turkish Communications Directorate said.
The leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan as well as regional and global issues, according to a statement shared by the leadership on the Turkish NSosyal platform.
During the meeting, Erdogan said the two countries would continue their efforts to strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially in the defense industry and trade, the statement added.
Erdogan also said he believed in strengthening solidarity between Turkiye and Uzbekistan on international platforms, and invited Mirziyoev to the OTS summit as well as COP31, both of which will be held in Turkiye.
The closed-door meeting, organized in the hotel where Erdogan was staying, took place in the presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Earlier, Erdogan was welcomed at Hazret Sultan International Airport by Kazakh State Councilor Erlan Qarin, Turkistan Region Governor Nuralgan Kucherov, Kazakh Foreign Ministry representative Almaty Janibek Zharaskanovich, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Ankara Yerkebulan Sapiyev, as well as other officials.
