The German defense specialist wants to accelerate the development of its MDOcore platform thanks to IBM’s artificial intelligence and automation technologies.

Hensoldt announces the signing of a memorandum of understanding with IBM Germany to cooperate in the field of software-based defense architectures, or “Software-Defined Defense”. The partnership aims to develop certain functionalities of the MDOcore software suite while respecting national sovereignty requirements.

MDOcore should make it possible to connect weapon systems and sensors, centralize sensitive military data and perform advanced analyzes to support military operations. The platform leverages artificial intelligence technologies to automatically identify patterns and anomalies in distributed and heterogeneous databases.

IBM Germany will notably bring its expertise in multi-tenant data management, sovereign artificial intelligence, automation and software engineering, via technologies from the Watsonx platform and IBM Automation.

“With technology experts like IBM Germany, we can accelerate the development of core building blocks of MDOcore while maintaining full sovereignty over architecture, integration and data,” said Sven Heursch, Chief Digital Officer of Hensoldt.

Hensoldt shares fell 0.55% in Frankfurt shortly before 11:30 a.m.
