Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday May 10 in an interview with CBS that the war in Iran was “not over”. The Israeli Prime Minister sets the withdrawal of enriched uranium stocks as a mandatory condition.
Israel is still considering an operation on Iranian soil. Questioned by the American media CBS on Sunday May 10, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was offensive on the issue. According to him, it is clear that the conflict with Iran is “not over”, because the question of the stock of Iranian enriched uranium is still not resolved.
“The war has accomplished a lot, but it is not over, because there are still nuclear materials – enriched uranium – that need to be removed from Iran,” he said, adding that there were also “enrichment sites to be dismantled.”
“We go in there and take it out.”
While the ceasefire remains in force, despite American operations targeting “Iranian military installations” on Thursday May 7, Benjamin Netanyahu does not hide considering new actions. Asked how he planned to “get” the uranium out of Iran, he replied: “We’ll go there and get it out.”
According to him, the United States would also be ready to participate in this intervention. “What President Trump told me was, ‘I want to go.’ And I think it’s physically possible. That’s not the problem. If we have a deal and we go in and release it, why not? This is the best solution,” he added.
“We’ll get him back eventually […] we are watching him closely. If anyone comes near the place, we will know, and we will blow them up,” Donald Trump also said in an interview with independent journalist Sharyl Attkisson.
A major issue
Enriched uranium held by the Islamic Republic is one of the issues at the heart of talks aimed at finding a way out of the war.
According to the latest public data available, dating from June 2025, Iran had before the Twelve Day War and this conflict 441 kilos of uranium enriched to 60%, close to the 90% threshold necessary for the manufacture of a nuclear bomb, 180 kilos enriched to 20%, as well as more than six tons enriched to 5%. The main stock was spread across three sites – Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan – largely targeted since the end of February.
“If it is the International Atomic Energy Agency which is responsible for recovering the uranium, editor’s note, that is fine with us too,” declared the American Minister of Energy, Chris Wright, in another interview granted to CBS on Sunday May 10.
During this interview, Benjamin Netanyahu also said he hoped for the definitive end of Iranian power. “Is it possible? Yes. Is it certain? No. […] We have reduced them a lot, but they are still there and there is still work to do,” he said.
