Donald Trump declared on Sunday, May 3, that the United States had “very positive discussions” with Iran that “could lead to something very positive for everyone,” in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“My representatives are having very positive discussions with Iran, and these discussions could lead to something very positive for everyone,” the American president wrote.
A ceasefire has been in place since April 8, after nearly 40 days of Israeli-American strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliations in the region, but negotiations have been ongoing.
The American president also announced that the US Navy will begin escorting vessels blocked by third-party countries through the Strait of Hormuz starting on Monday. “For the benefit of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have informed these countries that we will guide their ships safely through these waterways,” the American president wrote on his Truth Social platform, referring to vessels belonging to countries that are “not involved” in the current conflict with Iran.

The number of commercial vessels of all categories present in the Gulf stood at 913 on April 29, as reported by the maritime tracking company AXSMarine on Thursday.
“I told my representatives to inform them that we would do our best to get their ships and crews out of the strait. In any case, they said they would not return to the region until it is safe for navigation,” added Donald Trump.
This is a gesture of “goodwill on behalf of all those who have fought so hard in recent months,” he emphasized. However, he warned that if this operation were to be hindered, it would “unfortunately have to be dealt with by force.”
