The king of Morocco, Mohammed VI, named his son, Prince Moulay El Hassan, as the coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff of the army, according to an official statement.

Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), Mohammed VI “was pleased to appoint” the 22-year-old prince as “coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff,” as indicated by the royal cabinet.

“Dicipline, integrity and commitment”

The 62-year-old king himself held this role – at the heart of the hierarchy of senior officers of the FAR – from 1985, after being appointed by his father, Hassan II, the statement specified by the Moroccan state news agency MAP.

“The Royal Armed Forces are based, in the fulfillment of their national duty and their humanitarian and social missions, on a set of noble values, including competence and discipline, integrity and commitment, sincere patriotism, and a high sense of responsibility imbued in their various components,” the statement reads.

Prince Moulay El Hassan is the son of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and Princess Lalla Salma. Born on May 8, 2003, he is the heir to the Alaouite throne and holds the title of crown prince of Morocco.
