- The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, appointed his son, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, to a crucial position, as announced by the royal cabinet.
- He will be the coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff of the army, a role previously held by his father, who was appointed by his own father.
- The young man will be at the heart of the organizational chart of the senior ranks of the Royal Armed Forces.
Just in his twenties, the young crown prince is following in his father’s footsteps. King Mohammed VI of Morocco appointed his son, Moulay El Hassan, as the coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff of the army on Saturday, May 2, according to an official statement.
The sovereign, who is 62 years old, had himself held this key role from 1985, located at the core of the organizational chart of the highest ranks of the Royal Armed Forces. He was appointed by his own father, Hassan II, as indicated in the statement relayed by the Moroccan official news agency MAP.
“The Royal Armed Forces are guided, in carrying out their national duty and humanitarian and social missions, (…) by a set of noble values”
, the text continues. Among them, “especially those of competence and discipline, integrity and commitment, sincere patriotism, and a high sense of responsibility”
, it emphasizes.
The sovereign has ruled Morocco since July 1999, when he succeeded his father. His son Moulay El Hassan, born of his union with Princess Lalla Salma, has been prepared since birth to ascend to the throne. While still a student at the Polytechnic University of Rabat, he now accompanies his father in most official activities.
