Since April 11, the town hall and the fast food chain have been at odds over the opening of the Saint-Ouen outlet. The uproar, fueled by legal procedures, is causing a stir on social media.
“Operation Master Poulet.” Just elected as the president of the Republic, Karim Bouamrane, a socialist, rushes to the crisis room. The urgency is palpable: war has been declared against Master Poulet, a fast food chain specializing in grilled poultry. At the decision of the new president, who presses a big red button, fighter jets are urgently dispatched to the Saint-Ouen outlet, where the aircraft lift the restaurant from the ground.
This scene is obviously not real: it is the result of a video montage generated by artificial intelligence and posted by Master Poulet on its TikTok account on April 28. The fast food chain, in a sarcastic tone, refers to the conflict with Karim Bouamrane, the socialist mayor of Saint-Ouen, who opposes the arrival of the restaurant in the city. “Dear Karim, we would like to convince you not to go that far. To help you change your mind, we invite you to come taste the best grilled chicken,” jokes Master Poulet.
Fight against junk food
“Master Poulet” is a fast food chain specializing in takeaway meals made of grilled poultry. The formula is simple: very high-calorie and expensive dishes, composed of chicken, accompanied by rice or alloco (grilled plantains), at very attractive prices, served quickly. These formulas, offered by several chains, have been attracting unprecedented interest among young people in recent months. They are the main target of the “fight against junk food,” a battle led by Karim Bouamrane who has made “Master Poulet” the symbol of this “junk food” that he wants to eliminate from the streets of Saint-Ouen.
Since April 11, the two parties have been engaged in a fierce battle over the presence of the restaurant in the city. The first, fighting to close the restaurant, argues in favor of the fight against junk food, while the second retaliates with legal procedures and aggressive communication on social media to keep the store open. “I want everyone to have access to quality food from a young age,” he asserts on X.
While emphasizing that Master Poulet had set up “without prior authorization” and even though the city had “firmly rejected the establishment,” Karim Bouamrane explains that he refuses “for an establishment to degrade the living conditions of the residents.” Concrete blocks were installed in front of the fast food to block access on April 14, before being removed following a court decision. The town hall repeated the action by placing giant flower pots in front of the restaurant, which taunts the municipality with banners mocking the actions of the mayor of Saint-Ouen.
