A show of force in Tehran. Just before the ceasefire expired, the Iranian regime displayed a ballistic missile, as if to show that they are ready to resume hostilities. The crowd, dressed in white, chants “Death to Israel! Death to America!“.
As soon as Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire to allow for negotiations, naval battle resumed this morning in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranians fired upon three container ships: the Euphoria and MSC Francesca, flying the Panamanian flag, and the PAMI Nondas under the Liberian flag. This last boat came from the United Arab Emirates. It disconnected its transmitter before reconnecting at five o’clock this morning. It was attacked and remains blocked this evening. The action is claimed by the state television.
The attacks are carried out by hundreds of fast boats from the Revolutionary Guards, the so-called mosquito fleet for its agility and nuisance capacity. Meanwhile, the US Navy continues its blockade to prevent the export of Iranian oil and dry up the country’s finances. But according to the Financial Times, 34 tankers have reportedly managed to bypass the blockade.
Donald Trump claims that his strategy is paying off. “Iran is financially collapsing. They want the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. They are running out of money. They are losing $500 million a day,” says the US president. He hints that negotiations could resume by Friday. The Iranian regime mocks this and releases a video made with artificial intelligence in which Donald Trump becomes impatient in front of empty chairs. The only response he receives is “Trump, shut up“.
