Earlier in the day on this Friday, the Iranian Foreign Minister declared the highly strategic Strait of Hormuz completely “open” as long as the ceasefire in the Middle East lasts.
Donald Trump praised Iran’s announcement on Friday, April 17, that the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open for navigation during the ceasefire, but immediately announced that the American blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place until an agreement is reached.
“Iran just announced that the Iran Strait is completely open and ready for a complete crossing. Thank you!” the U.S. president wrote on his Truth Social platform in a message entirely in capital letters.
However, a few minutes later, in a second message on Truth Social, Donald Trump indicated the continuation of the blockade imposed by the United States on Iranian ports. “The Strait of Hormuz is completely open (…) but the naval blockade will remain fully in effect regarding Iran only, until our transaction with Iran is 100% completed,” he declared again entirely in capital letters.
Most topics “have already been negotiated”
“The process should go very quickly since most topics have already been negotiated,” added the American president.
Earlier in the day on this Friday, the Iranian Foreign Minister declared the highly strategic Strait of Hormuz, essential for global hydrocarbon trade, completely “open” as long as the ceasefire in the Middle East lasts.
It was not specified whether he was referring to the ceasefire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which went into effect on Thursday evening in Lebanon for a period of ten days, or the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, theoretically ending on April 22.
