The tension continues on the Lebanese front. Hostilities between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah are ongoing on Wednesday, April 15, despite discussions between the ambassadors of the Hebrew state and Lebanon in the United States for direct negotiations. American diplomacy specified that the date and location “remained to be mutually agreed upon”. Donald Trump deemed “welcoming the end of hostilities” in Lebanon but this issue is not on the agenda for negotiations with Iran, as stated by a senior American official on Wednesday. “The dismantling of Hezbollah” is the primary goal of these negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, reaffirmed by Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. The Israeli military announced hitting over 200 targets of the Shiite movement in the last 24 hours, with about 30 rockets hitting Israel in the morning. They were ordered to kill any Hezbollah fighter in an area from the border to the Litani River, about thirty kilometers to the north, according to a military statement. The Shiite movement described the discussions between the two countries as “surrender”.
