Ukrainian President Celebrates Military Victory Using Robots and Drones

  • The Ukrainian president explained that Ukrainian soldiers succeeded in taking a position held by Russian forces.
  • To achieve this, only robots and drones were used, piloted from a distance without infantry.
  • This is a first, praised Volodymyr Zelensky, hinting at how conflicts will be conducted in the future.

“The future is already on the front line – and Ukraine is building it.” With these words, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky began a post on his social networks. The leader hailed a military victory over his Russian neighbor and the execution of a completely unprecedented operation that ended in success. “For the first time in the history of this war, an enemy position was taken exclusively by unmanned platforms – ground systems and drones. The occupants surrendered, and the operation was carried out without infantry and without losses on our side,” the leader congratulated.

Fighting Remotely

To combat the Russian invasion, Ukrainians have repeatedly demonstrated their ingenuity in recent years, developing, for example, a true expertise in the use of drones. These are now supported by a series of “ground robotic systems”. These new remotely controlled weapons “have already carried out more than 22,000 missions on the front lines in just three months,” assured Volodymyr Zelensky.

“In other words, lives have been saved over 22,000 times when a robot ventured into the most dangerous areas instead of a warrior,” continued the Ukrainian president. He took the opportunity to praise the merits of these “high-tech” machines, which allow his army to “protect a supreme value – human life.”

The statements of the head of state suggest a significant increase in the use of ground robots on the front lines. To support this, Business Insider recalls statements made by Oleksandr Syrskyi in December last year. The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces explained that during the second half of 2025, Ukrainian ground robots had only carried out 2,000 missions.

The success of this mission follows previous advances, observed in recent months on the front lines. For instance, Ukrainian defense manufacturer DevDroid reported in January that a Ukrainian ground robot, Droid TW-7.62, equipped with AI-based systems for autonomous detection, capture, and tracking of targets, managed to capture three Russian soldiers. “Ground robotic systems already take care of the most dangerous aspects of frontline work. Each mission of this type reduces risks for personnel and enhances the combat capabilities of units,” emphasized Yurii Poritskyi, CEO of DevDroid.

Last year, we also remember that Ukrainian forces claimed the first capture of enemy soldiers using drones. With army video support, the government media United 24 explained that a drone operator was piloting his device “towards his target when a Russian soldier raised his hands to surrender.” This man was guided by the drone to the positions held by Ukrainian soldiers, where he was captured.
