The Iranian requirements are being revealed. In response to American proposals, Iran has demanded the unblocking of frozen Iranian assets and the end of the war in the entire region, including Lebanon, stated the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The only thing we demanded are Iran’s legitimate rights,” said the ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, as reported by France 24. Tehran also wants the lifting of the American blockade on Iranian ports. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump deemed the Iranian response as “totally unacceptable.”
According to Esmaeil Baghaei, the United States continues to have “unreasonable demands.” He believes that Iran’s response to the American proposal, sent on Sunday to Pakistan, was not excessive. “The only thing we demanded are Iran’s legitimate rights,” he indicated, referencing the request to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “Whenever we are forced to fight, we will fight, and whenever a diplomatic opportunity arises, we will seize it,” clarified the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.
According to Iran’s state television website, as noted by RFI, Tehran’s response also included the payment of war reparations and recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran would agree, once these issues are resolved within a 30-day period, to discuss its nuclear program. However, Tehran would refuse to abandon the latter or send its uranium stocks abroad, including the 440 kilograms enriched to 60%.
