Trump assures journalists of his commitment to Iran war despite shooting incident
Donald Trump assured on Saturday night that the shots fired at the Washington press gala would not deter him from the war against Iran, even though he believes the incident is unrelated to the international crisis.
“This will not make me give up on winning the war in Iran,” the American president declared to the press, a few hours after the gunfire at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where he was evacuated from the platform. “I don’t know if it had anything to do with that, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” he added.
A few minutes earlier, he had responded “you never know” when asked if he thought the shots were related to the war in Iran, which he initiated on February 28 in cooperation with Israel. He added that investigators were working on the motives of the presumed author of the shots, who was arrested and labeled as a “lone wolf.”
Donald Trump cancelled on Saturday the trip his envoys were supposed to make to Pakistan in the hopes of meeting with representatives of Tehran to end the war.
