Mikel Arteta has opened the door to a return by Jurrièn Timber for the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal’s coach spoke on Thursday at a press conference. “There is a chance,” said the Spanish coach regarding the 24-year-old Dutch full-back. “Things have progressed a bit in recent days, he is feeling better. We will try to recover him.” However, Mikel Arteta declined to quantify this probability: “How great this chance is, I cannot tell you.”

Arteta has two options to replace Timber

Jurrièn Timber has been struggling with an ankle injury since mid-March. The defender has missed several matches with the Gunners since his injury. He usually plays as a right-back. The situation is complicated for Arteta. Ben White, the other option for this position, is out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury last weekend in a Premier League match.

In Timber’s absence, two backup options are available: central defender Cristhian Mosquera, who has already been used on the right side, or left-back Riccardo Calafiori. The starter will be tasked with keeping an eye on PSG’s decisive Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Arsenal will play the second Champions League final in their history on May 30th in Budapest. Before this encounter, the Gunners will face Burnley on Monday and then travel to Crystal Palace on May 24th.
