Zahara Jolie and her mother, Angelina Jolie, here in January 2025, in Los Angeles.

And three. As revealed by the magazine Peoplethis Tuesday, June 9, Zahara – one of the daughters of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – has just launched administrative procedures to remove that of her father from her last name, as her sister Shiloh and more recently her brother Maddox have already done in the past.

His initiative is not a surprise. In May, the 21-year-old was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie at her college’s Spelman College awards ceremony in Atlanta. In 2024, this is also how she presented herself by joining a sorority.

In the first hours of his majority, Shiloh had initiated similar legal measures, in 2024. Their brother Maddox, too. It was at the end of last April. Consequently, only three of the Jolie-Pitt couple’s six children still bear their father’s name, even if Vivienne – the youngest of the siblings – has already appeared under her mother’s name alone on the program of a musical on Broadway.

Divorce with Brad Pitt

None of the children gave details on the reasons for their actions. However, these began two years after the divorce of their parents, whose separation began causing a lot of ink to flow, in particular due to accusations of violence.

In legal documentaries leaked at the time, Angelina Jolie accused her ex-husband of having assaulted two of their children during an argument aboard a private jet in 2016. He allegedly strangled one of them, and punched another in the face, while they were interfering to defend their mother.

After this dispute, the investigation carried out by the federal authorities did not result in any prosecution. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce a few days after this plane trip. This was enacted in 2024, after a long legal battle also due to disagreements over the sharing of property.
