Ten years ago, a few passionate individuals laced up their roller skates with a somewhat crazy idea: to bring roller derby to Aurillac. This contact team sport on roller skates pits two teams against each other on an oval track, aiming to pass opponents to score points. Ten years later, the Pintades Killers have come a long way. The Aurillac association is celebrating its first decade of existence this year and plans to mark the occasion with a festive day on May 23, 2026, at the Lescudilliers hall. Here’s what’s planned.
Day-long Activities
Heading the collective is Sysyjusy, the association’s president, who reflects on the journey. “Just two years ago, we were almost back at square one,” she says. Since then, the club has picked up speed. This season, over 25 licensed players make up the Pintades ranks, with a busy schedule of matches, training, friendly games, and trips.
To celebrate these ten years of shoulder checks, tight turns, and roller solidarity, the association is organizing a public event.
We will offer a roller derby demonstration, roller dance, morning skating lessons for kids, and a food truck
Behind the quirky image and friendly atmosphere of roller derby, their skill level is improving. The Aurillac players have taken part in several bootcamps, including one led by a French champion, and have recently played their first matches in the Trophée Chocolatine in Occitanie, supporting the Castres team. More matches are planned for May and June.
Sporting Ambitions
Although no actual match can be held at the Lescudilliers hall, the Pintades hope to use this celebration to send a message. The club would like to receive more local support to secure a suitable time slot in a more appropriate gymnasium for the sport. “We are solving this issue,” says the president.
Aspirations are high. The Aurillac team now aims for entry into National 3, is working on establishing a junior section next term, and intends to continue developing roller derby in Cantal. Still a relatively unknown discipline, often subject to stereotypes, the Pintades are determined to bring it to life.
