The end of a threat, failed Balarucois in the match of fear and great suspense in R1 where seven teams, including Asfac, fight for maintenance… The end of the season is tense!
The day was marked by the end of the threat of a massive relegation from N3, Balarucois’ failure in the match of fear, and Castelnau’s defeat in R2. Only one team from R1 will accompany Fabrègues’ neighbors departing for R2.
Asfac is almost there
Facing Mende, at the end of a balanced game where the goalkeepers were in their favor, Nicolas Guibal’s men secured three precious points. Despite the success, Asfac is still not reassured. With two matches remaining, seven teams are within five points, where six points are crucial.
A peculiar scenario, Narbonnais and Nîmois II will be the only ones threatened to face each other in the last two matchdays. There is a need for one more victory for the Asfac to secure their position. A draw or defeat for Saint-Clément to Grau-du-Roi on Saturday would also suffice.
Sète is almost there
On the other hand, the Sètois did not doubt for long. Leading comfortably after the break against a depleted team due to two exclusions and injuries, Sète earned the right to challenge Castelnau now four points ahead. Due to lack of opposing players, the referee applied the rules by stopping the match. The score of 3-0 with a hat-trick from Ibra Ait Barazouk will be duly confirmed by the commission. A draw on Sunday will be enough!
For Balarucois, however, it’s tough. Maintenance now depends on multiple hypotheses, it is still possible but very complicated.
The end of the season now feels very long for the Mézois in R3. The unglamorous exit from the Coupe d’Occitanie has left its mark. At Port-la-Nouvelle, the pair Castello-Sansone’s men managed to secure a good draw, preserving their place on the podium.
Results: Asfac / Mende AFL 1-0, SC Sète / Juventus-Papus postponed, St. Balarucois / Pignan 2-3, FC Corbières-Méditerranée / Méze SFC 3-3.
