The disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) announced on Sunday, May 10, the opening of an “investigation” following the interruption in injury time of the decisive match of the last day of Ligue 2 between Bastia and Le Mans at the Furiani stadium on Saturday, due to smoke bombs.

“Reunited this Sunday, May 10, the disciplinary committee of the LFP decided to launch an investigation into the incidents related to the SC Bastia – Le Mans FC match for the 34th day of Ligue 2,” said the League in a statement.

The LFP specified that “given the urgency and in order to ensure the smooth running of the competitions (…), the disciplinary committee will rule on this case during its meeting on Wednesday, May 13.”

While Le Mans was leading 2-0, a result that guaranteed its promotion to Ligue 1 and condemned Bastia to relegation, smoke bombs were thrown at the 91st minute, just after Le Mans’ second goal. The referee then decided to stop the match which was never resumed.
